Andrea Brown's Woven Paintings
Andrea Brown's Woven Paintings (18 items)
Woven Paintings are created by weaving varied materials such as measuring tape, strings of beads, electrical wiring, belts, and much much more until what is created is a multi-dimensional canvas. These intricately textured paintings are the result of memories and projections, of people, places and events that inform my everyday life. An earthy yet bold palette of color akin to the Aboriginals, the Haitians, and Indian Asians create a complex beauty of human life.

Andrea Brown's Chairnsformations
 Andrea Brown's Chairnsformations (27 items)
I hate to see old furniture thrown out, to me each piece is history unto itself. I want to give them another chance to be seen again, maybe not necessarily sat upon, but used again as a piece of art. Thus, I resurrect each chair I find or that is given to me, they become transformed from a throwaway to a humorous or sophisticated piece of sculpture.

Andrea Brown's Vintage Linoleum Paintings
Andrea Brown's Vintage Linoleum Paintings (7 items)
These linoleum paintings represent an imaginative man's world, from the floor up, who lived alone in the Catskill mountains.

Andrea Brown's Works on Paper
Andrea Brown's Works on Paper (5 items)
These mixed media pieces are based on a series I did about the mothers, sisters, grandmothers and aunts I met on open school night while being an art teacher at a high school in the Bronx, a borough of New York city. I wanted to elevate these women to a queen-like status using their hair as a metaphor for a crown. Their lives in reality seemed difficult, stressfull and exhausting. I'm trying to tell their stories.

The Pickin' Parlor
 The Pickin' Parlor (11 items)
About once a month we gather at The Outsider's Studio and invite musicians and singer-songwriters of all levels to join together for an evening of music that runs the gamet from Bill Monroe to The Isley Brothers. Our motto is, "If you know three chords and a song, you might just fit in". The "Pickin' Parlor is also also the birthplace of the bands, "The Do Don't Darlin's" and "The Budding Prospects".
