Award-winning
American portrait painter and illustrator Art Landerman was raised
in a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan. The strong moral values
of his working class family influenced his early development as an
artist and, along with his belief in God, continue to provide guidance
and inspiration today. A 1980 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Maryland
Institute College of Art, he has worked successfully as both a fine
artist and commercial illustrator for over 23 years. Art is skilled
in a variety of media, from oils to watercolors, witnessed by the
beautiful images in his web portfolio here. More importantly, however,
is Art's innate ability to capture personality in a portrait, a moment
in time in a landscape, or drive home the benefits of a product in
one of his commercial illustrations. Along with his remarkable artistic
talent, Art has the ability to communicate easily and comfortably
with his clients. While most artists say that the art itself is their
greatest motivator, Art looks at the situation from a much fresher
perspective. "Seeing my clients satisfied with the final artwork
is always my greatest reward," he says. A member of several associations,
Art has exhibited throughout the United States. He lives in Ellicott
City, Maryland.
