"FINDING MY WAY HOME": group work

2006 produced these 10 works, simply in search of my roots they reflect on my childhood throughout the 60’s and 70s within New Zealand, changing times, in seeking ones heritage, searching for understanding, that to have the ability to grow one must identify with where one comes from… Canvasses portray the cool Victorian matriarch ways of my upbringing, of Christchurch Canterbury, surrounded by the hills and alps… but in the shadowed rivers, lakes and surrounding ocean lay mythological creatures, Taniwha’s hidden, laying dormant like my culture, my indigenous tribe “Te Aitawh”. … Chiefteness’s and Moko’s (masks) are more playful at heart; they represent my uncles, my cousins my extended pacific family they seem to balance the male and female within one.

All works unsold are available through the "LITTEL RIVER GALLERY, CANTERBURY NEW ZEALAND" www.littlerivergallery.com this is a excellent gallery please view for other great New Zealand art
