"One can only truly appreciate God's work when they break from conformity and see that a tree is not green and brown. The clouds aren't white. The ocean is not blue. Sand is not yellow. One who believes this will only then see truth and beauty; see the soul He has given this world. " (Alexandra Silcox, 2006)
I have lived long enough to finally see that this world is alive. And when I paint, realistic or surreal, I look beyond the rules. I try to capture color. There is color in everything, even a shadow. Color is a reflection of life, mood, and feeling -- a reflection of the soul and of who or what it represents. To mute color is to undermine the object itself. Color gives us a sense of understanding of the subject, a connection. In my art, I incorporate color as much as I can, not only to create richness and beauty, but also to tell a story. My goal is to take people outside the box of what we are taught of color being a mere stimulus. Moreover, to see it as a representation of things we cannot comprehend with only mere words.
