Jan Weiss

Born and raised in suburban Northern California, artist Jan Weiss received her art degree from California State University Hayward specializing in human rendering but then discovered in later years a love for mixed media, glue, paint, gel mediums and textured paper. Inspired by views from airplanes, textures in the earth, multi cultural colors, patterns and handmade paper, Jan uses this inspiration to express an original thought…a unique idea and an individual expression.

“I create with a variety of material...paper, glue, gel medium, acrylic paints and somehow I keep making new stuff. I get bored easily and can never make the same thing twice...similar yes...but not exact. So I keep trying new techniques...some work ...some don't... In college I used pencil all the time...but out of college with no models it really wasn't working. So that's when I started thinking outside the graphite pencil box. I also go through periods of intense love of one color. I'm into blue right now. Next week it may be different.”

Currently living in Martinez, Jan has works published by Paredes Publishing and Editions Limited and shows in local galleries as well as corporate offices.
