Glorious Spring is finally here and this exquisite outfit is the perfect welcome to its many charms. Easter has always been a time for new clothes for little girls, and your own darling Bleuette should be no exception!
Using the La Semaine de Suzette patterns of 1912 and 1913 (Costume-tailleur /Jaquette kimono) I have created a special ensemble from a *plethora* of beautiful and unusual fabrics.
The pleated dress underneath has a skirt from "flamingo" pink cotton; a wonderful textile that weavers will recognize as a rose path variation. The bodice is a vintage repro print of soft cabbage roses and buds. The perfect compliment to the vivid pink skirt. I have applied vintage tatting around the neckline, and closed the back with two metal hooks and eyes.
The kimono sleeved jacket is vintage fulled wool in a soft and sunny yellow (think baby chicks). I have lined it with china silk of the same hue. The collar is vintage Irish linen with some of the same tatting used on the dress. To close this lovely jacket I chose a clear glass antique button (in the photo it seems a smokier gray-in person it is clearer) and a hand worked thread loop.
Her crocheted cloche was made for me by my friend Ailleen. It is crocheted from a blend of fine wool and cotton. I have trimmed it with a soft silk bow and mulberry paper rose. I finish all of my hats with the Bluebird Textile label.
A perfectly delightful ensemble- fit to spoil the finest of dolls! Buy with confidence when considering my designs. You will be delighted with the quality of my work. ~Kathy O'Malley
