The classic silhouette of this ensemble was inspired by an LSDS pattern of the earlier years- Robe habillée avec guimpe 1908 (Dressy dress with blouse). The delicate color and fine hand detailing is certain to provide an ambience of feminine innocence for your *own* darling Bleuette!
My version was constructed from 100% cotton batiste in a pale powder blue. The front bodice was embellished with hand sewn tucks, as well as hand embroidered chainstitch-which also graces the collar,sleeves and hemline. The pale blue embroidery on pale blue fabric creates a marvelously subtle, yet rich ornamentation. The many gathers at the waist are covered by a self-fabric belt. It has a gold tone buckle at the front, and fastens at the back with a hidden metal snap. The dress closes with metal hooks and hand worked eyes.
The blouse underneath is also 100% cotton. White and tan striped muslin gathers at the neck and sleeves. The sleeves are trimmed with two rows of French cotton lace in pale blue to match. The back closes with two pearl buttons and hand worked loops.
The crowning glory on this confection is this Swiss paglina bonnet. Lined with silk duopioni, it ties on with a 100% silk satin ribbon. The crown is decorated with silk fringed rosettes and tiny paper flowers in peach. I finish it with my own couture label.
So charming and feminine , this outfit is sure to make you swoon!!!
