Who can resist a little strawberry girl? Your *own* darling Bleuette, dressed in this charming ensemble, will evoke memories of dappled light, warm fragrant earth, and the irresistible lure of ripe, juicy strawberries!
I used two patterns from La Semaine de Suzette that were both published during 1921- Petite Robe Paysanne (Little Peasant Dress), and Tablier de Jardinage (Garden Apron). I over-dyed a multi- colored striped cotton for the dress to add just the right amount of warmth to the gay colors. The dress closes simply in the back with tiny metal hooks and hand worked eyes.
Her most charming apron is off a fine cotton lawn in forget-me-not blue. I bias-bound all of the edges and embroidered a border of feather stitch by hand. The back closes with a self tie, and a small blue mother of pearl button (with hand sewn button-hole) The most beautiful part of this piece,of course, are the tiny red strawberries and flowers that I embellished on the front pocket.
Her wide brimmed garden hat is Swiss paglina hat braid. Unlined, it ties under her chin with cord of braided embroidery floss. The brim is delightfully trimmed with silk strawberries, silk ribbon flowers, cotton leaves and stems.
A perfectly delightful ensemble- fit to spoil the finest of dolls!
NOTE: doll, socks and shoes are not included.
