ROBE DE MAISON 1916
(Sold)

This heart warming ensemble was made from two La Semaine de Suzette patterns from the same year - Robe de maison (house dress) and Pantalon (drawers), both from 1916.

The dress was constructed from two equally beautiful textiles. The collar and cuffs were made from an antique handkerchief; fine linen hemstitched and embroidered with whitework dots. The dress fabric is just a simple cotton lawn, but the hue is really extraordinary. From my natural dyeing experience, I would explain this color as two or three dips into a natural indigo dye vat. It is a marvelous color that enhances every skin tone imaginable! The contrast of this beautiful blue and the old fabric of the collar is really quite striking.

The dress is made with two pleats in the front and two in the back. Hidden beneath the pleats are hand-embroidered openings- just large enough for the self-fabric belt to pass through. The belt closes with one tiny hidden snap. The dress itself cloes in the back with three faux pearls and hand-worked loops.

Underneath her dress, Bleuette wears a pair of matching bloomers. Made from the same antique handkerchief, the bottoms are hemstitched and embroidered. They are gathered onto a waistband that closes with one tiny metal snap.

Her beatiful matching * chapeau * is Swiss hat braid trimmed with a bias band and cabbage roses in pale blue and lavender. The hat is unlined and finished with my own couture label. I have also included a matching hair bow to brighten her pretty hair.

So charming and feminine , this outfit is sure to make you swoon!!!

NOTE: doll, socks and shoes are not included .

Buy with confidence when considering my designs! You will be delighted with the quality of my work. ~Kathy O'Malley
