Matching ensemble of jacket, skirt and hat make up this early 1900's ensemble for your own darling Bleuette! Adapted from an LSDS pattern of 1908, this outfit will warm your heart with its classic silhouette of the early 20th century.
My version is primarily sewn from 100 % cotton chambray in a diamond pattern weave. The crisp sailor collar is silk dupioni in cream. Under the front opening of the pea jacket is a plastron made from silk and embelished with the classic anchor motif, embroidered in two shades of red silk thread. This clever panel snaps closed and enables the jacket to be worn as a blouse.
I applied by hand very narrow (1mm) soutache in scarlet red (imported from Austria) to embelish by hand the collar and cuffs. The hemline is hand top-stitched with two rows of red silk thread. A beautiful red silk crepe tie runs underneath the collar and closes at the front. I made a hidden hand worked loop to secure the tie under the collar.
The jacket closes with one tiny metal snap at the plastron, and a metal hook and hand worked loop at the center front. The skirt closes with a snap at the back.
And of course the matching chapeau! This one is Swiss hat braid, formed on a mold of my own design. I trimmed it simply with a bow and band of red silk crepe. It is lined with cotton sateen and finished with the Bluebird Textiles label.
So charming and feminine , this outfit is sure to make you swoon!!!
