Here is a delightfully jaunty ensemble to dress your own darling Bleuette. This rowing costume was inspired by the 1930 LSDS pattern, Costume de canotage. The ensemble includes shorts, belt, blouse, scarf and cap!
For the shorts I used 100% linen in a soft petal pink. The pull on and are held up by a maroon leather belt. The matching blouse is a wonderful vintage cotton plaid. Unlike the usual "grid pattern" plaid, the lines look more like an ikat weave. Very beautiful and unususl fabric in soft colors. The back closes in the back with metal snaps and vintage mother of pearl buttons.
Her adorable scarf is rose pink silk crepe. I used the original pattern motif to hand embroider ( in cross stitch) a maroon sailboat. I used the same floss for the knotted fringe. So sporty!
Her peaked cap is Swiss paglina dyed a deep berry color. It is unlined and embelished with a band of the silk crepe-knotted at the front. I finished the hat with my own couture label.
