You are certain to marvel at the elegance and charm of this beautiful ensemble. Clear, happy colors blend with classic tailoring to create a perfectly feminine outfit -without the use of any lace or ruffles! The jacket was inspired by a 1909 pattern from La Semaine de Suzette. Using a vintage "fulled" wool in celery green, I added a collar and cuffs of a soft leather in rose pink. The jacket closes with three very old (and unusual) silver buttons. They are carved on the first layer with a layer of shiny metal peeping through. If you are a regular watcher of my work you might recognize the gorgeous fabric that I used for her dress. It is antique French silk, woven in stripes of taffeta and brocade. The luscious coloring is only part of the luxury of this textile. The rarity and the texture are the other two! I used the LSDS mariner pattern of 1910 to make the pleated dress. I carefully pleated the fabric to highlight the extraordinary stripes. It closes down the back with hidden hooks and eyes. Her beret is also rose leather, lined with silk and trimmed with mulberry paper flowers. I am also including the matching rose pink leather boots. They lace and tie at the front with naturally dyed silk ribbons. A perfectly delightful ensemble- fit to spoil the finest of dolls! |
