  Bradley Partlow

Born in 1975, Bradley Partlow originates from the mainland (Chicago, Il.) but moved, along with his family, to the beautiful island of Maui before his first birthday. Ostensibly influenced by the picturesque surroundings he grew up in, Bradley realized at a very young age that artistic expression was an integral part of who he is. Throughout the course of his childhood in Hawaii and his college days in California, he was exposed and attracted to many different forms of visual art. Yet despite the education he gained over the course of his studies, Bradley was determined to find a niche that would allow him to showcase his creativity in his own unique way.

It wasn’t much later that he stumbled across the medium that would eventually evolve into the voice through which he shares his imaginative vision. While living in Wisconsin and working at his Uncle’s wood shop, Bradley assisted with the building of furniture and even dabbled in wooden sculpture. But one day, unknown to him at the time, a random creative experiment yielded what would later become the crux of his work and passion – wire sculptures. Starting with an old spool of copper wire given to him by his Grandmother, he soon realized that the wire could be bent, twisted, and formed into the basic shape/structure of a person or tree.

And so it began. Since that day, Bradley has created hundreds of different wire sculptures depicting a wide range of subjects; dragons, cranes, peacocks, mermaids and insects, to name just a few. As time went on his work became increasingly sophisticated, incorporating other elements, such as polished stones, into his products. Perhaps most interesting and impressive is the fact that almost every sculpture is the result of one continuous strand of wire.

All sculptures created by Bradley are one of a kind and range in size from two inches and up. In working with wires of varying gauge and color and in utilizing his single strand technique, Bradley continues to develop new and intriguing sculptures that, just as seen in nature, no two of which will ever be the same.
