| | | | | | The act of painting for me has always been about mark-making–recording my subjective presence in my traces across the canvas. My recent work has included monotypes. I work abstractly and I felt an immediate affinity for this medium and its expressive qualities. I love working with the tension between the structured, mechanical process and the spontaneous, unpredictable interaction of the ink, paper, and press. When I start a painting for print, I begin with either a representational subject (a landscape, a figure), or an emotion (love for a child, the exhilaration of a first plunge into cool water). I then explore and feel the subject through the paint. My hope is to evoke this lyrical visual experience in the viewer. | | Be the first to post a comment.
