DREAMING OF ANOTHER TIME, ANOTHER PLACE
Emerging Artist Chantal Monté, Unveils Her New Collection of Tribal Influenced Abstract Paintings • August 14th at Infusion Gallery, 719 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, California
(Los Angeles, CA, July 2008 )- Infusion Gallery is pleased to present Another Time, Another Place, an exhibition of new paintings by emerging artist Chantal Monté. This exhibition will be on view from August 1 - August 26, 2008 at Infusion Gallery, located at 719 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA.
Chantal’s work is a series of abstract tribal dreamscapes painted on 2’ X 2’ wood panels using acrylic, glue, watercolor, lava, sand and a myriad of other earthy substances.
Infusion Gallery will host an opening reception for Chantal on Thursday, August 14th from 6-8 PM at the downtown LA gallery.
This is Chantal’s first exhibition. As a self-taught artist who has been painting for approximately 2 years, she feels ready to share her art with the world. She believes her paintings will transport you to another time—another place.
Reflecting on Chantal’s artwork, renowned painter David Novak enthuses, “Your images reveal your passion and this passion is connected to your idea. There seems to be an ease at how you connect passion, vision, technique, and honesty to your belief.”
Commenting on her new art collection and forthcoming exhibit at Infusion Gallery, Monté shares, “I can create a whole other world with my abstract art. Abstraction can stimulate emotions, the unconscious and imagination. My eyes have always seen many layers to this reality and I love to travel in my dreamtime. My images are in constant motion having borrowed the dot technique from the Aboriginals. I paint because I have to—it makes me a better human being.”
About the Artist
Chantal Monté grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in a household that believed in tradition, ritual and dreaming. She would spend hours daydreaming of other times and places. Her dreamtime always had information and wisdom to share. Her paintings reflect her other-worldliness and imagination. The tribal, primal quality visible in her work comes from the core of being—a human being.
Chantal’s Artist Statement:
“Painting is my passion. It’s where I’m connected to all that is. Living in the moment… and dreaming.”
