Christen Borgman Yates
holy the firm: painting the ordinary

About

Christy, her husband Chris, two sons (Tobin, 8 and Cashel, 6), and two daughters (Linden, 2 and baby Saylor) live in Rockport, MA.

Chris is a writer and professor with a recent a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Aesthetics from Boston College while Christy helps direct the Office of Community Engagement at Gordon College. She is especially passionate about the intersection of faith, the arts and sustainable community development. During seminary, her final thesis involved writing a business plan for her church's drop-in pottery studio which has now become a viable social enterprise.

She's written three articles that have appeared in Gordon's Stillpoint journal: The Oxymoron of Proximate Justice, Out of the Classroom and Into the Community: Gordon in Lynn and Placed-Based Learning and the most recent, The Beauty of the Overlooked.

You may find her running along the beaches or hiking in the woods, cooking up the bounty of their garden or attempting to paint - in the narrow margins around parenting her three little folks. (Photograph by Erica Pelaccia–thefarmerandthequeen.com)
