"Our only real god can be that of which is truthful to us- that of which is always visible. The one thing we as a species have always turned to in times of remarkable desperation. When we have had nothing and have wished for only that of a simple blessing, we have always found true faith in ART! it is obvious friends , that the only one thing we should worship is that of diversity- that of individuality and that of artistic nature."
I am a recent graduate of Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, CT. i graduated with a BFA in the Figure and plan to attend school in Europe for my masters. I would consider myself a draftsman of the figure but obviously still have much to learn since I am only 23. I am very much influenced by the Hudson Valley painters as well as European Romanticism. I grew up and have spent my entire life living in the Hudson Valley ( New York) and traveling to my mothers home country of Denmark. Both are definite influences in my life and never have I questioned this.
the one thing i have questioned while growing up was my catholic background. While i may no longer attend church ( and havn't for 15 years) i cannot say that it hasn't had some form of influence in my characteristics as a human being and more importantly, in my art. Being raised in the environment that I have and having ties to a country like Denmark, one can easily see why I choose to paint scenes of intrinsic spirituality. However, this does not mean I am only concerned with such artwork. In fact, if there is one thing i have learned from studying art my entire life, it is that one MUST be open- minded ..
