My start in photography was my senior year of high school. We had to choose an elective and the popular one was black and white photography. I spent hours in the dark room developing and playing with my camera and negatives. This was the start of my hobby; turned to a passion.
When I went off to college at Penn State I took photos on the side as a form of stress relief. Any chance I had I took photos; vacations, spring break, weekends, etc. After a few years I started to get an eye for photos and started to work on a few weddings here and there.
Deciding Point:
After have studied in Spain and taking simple photos with a point and shoot, I came back and decided that photography is something that truly makes me happy; why not see what I can do. So, here I find myself starting my site and seeing what I can do.
Accomplishments:
So far I've had a few photos published under a few sites and coffee books. I even had my first participation in an art show in 2006, which went quite well. I would like to get back to school; an art school.
Currently:
I've created my very own postcards to mail out to art galleries, potential clients, etc. I'm quite impressed with how they came out, I hope to possibly make some for people to buy at some point. I'd like to be able to get my work out there for others to enjoy my past experiences and how I view the world.
Why Photography?
I enjoyed my photography class in high school and almost immediately I started to develop an 'eye' for landscape and floral. I push myself to try different things and even have tried painting and other mediums. I love to express myself and be creative. The best feeling is when you've created something that took time and someone else really appreciates your work or comments on it.
I was born with some medical issues (scoliosis, etc) and photography is the one thing that I can work on when I want without being rushed and work when I am up to it; especially during the winter months. It's hard having medical issues and work FT and trying to maintain my health.
I'm highly considering starting a foundation to help people like myself; who want to work and be an active member in society, but insurance is limited and not cheap. I know that I am capable and have a very creative mind and I'm an outgoing and giving person; I want to do something with my life; whatever time that may be.
Any ideas and suggestions would be highly appreciated.
