Well my introduction to art was at a very young age by my grand father Allen menard, who is a drawer,
from that point on my creativity had started going wild the older that i became ,i went to spend some time with my mother's childhood friend debbie kellar in the summer i believe and she was creatively into painting ceramics, i remember her sitting down with me teaching me about painting technique and how to lovingly make my ceramic bunny come to life just with a few layers of colors and some patience
I would take old pairs of jeans and cut them specifically so i could make little jean purses for members of my family, i made sure to always cut the back pocket into the fabric so there would be an extra one in the front for makeup or maybe a change purse of sorts,
And then of course who couldn't love her more my mother Jacqueline for getting me those great pottery kits at christmas time, witch fueled my passion for sculpting with a wide variety of materials i might add...
And on successfully through high school art one of the few classes i actually really loved attending in witch i made some excellent drawings ,a pastel one of a kind and learned how my sculptures could be transfered to paper with prints,
Witch leads my story to about one year ago when me and my boyfriend were shopping in china town and i looked down in this store that must have been filled with a million nick nacks and must haves to discover a set of 10 oil paints ,
hmmmm, i thought to my self i wonder... so without hesitation i bought the paints and some brushes and a book of scrap recycle led paper (as they did not sell canvas) and then we went home .
With the course of the next few months i was re-living something that was in me for so long but had simply let fade away for a short time, and i'll tell you it was magical ... all these ideas kept flowing through my head driving me crazy as i pursued my passion with paint and sculpting once again ,
But this story is not just about painting, it's about a very special man who i hold dear to my heart that took my hand at that young age and drew my destiny with me ... so as i close i say thank you papa and i will be what you always believed i'd be.... an artist.
