I am Elizabeth Bizianes, an artist.
My passion is painting and drawing and I have been creating artwork for as long as I can remember. I work mainly in oil and charcoal but I also enjoy working in and teaching watercolor, colored pencil, and pastels.
My inspirations are my family, light, life, nature.
My favorite subjects are portraits, still-lifes and cityscapes.
I have a studio in the Highlands neighborhood of Louisville, KY where I paint and share my passion with students, of all ages, interested in drawing and painting.
I attended University of Louisville where I earned a bachelor’s degree in art with a concentration in Graphic Design.
My first design job out of college was making silk screen designs by hand and there I really honed my drawing skills.
Next, I worked for Vermont American Corporation as one of a two woman graphics team that designed all the packaging for Sears/Craftsman power tool accessories for the U.S. and Canada. Our team won a Louie for package design.
I left Vermont American to raise my two babies and work as a freelance Graphic Designer. Once my children grew older I decided I wanted to return to my love of drawing and creating art and took up oil painting. I have been doing commissions, teaching and painting for more than 5 years in my studio, Bizianes Fine Arts.
My oil painting “The Mothers” won “Best of Show” in 2007 in the Louisville Artisans Guild 34th annual show and in 2008 my oil painting “Wading In” won 3rd place in the special theme category: water, in the Louisville Artisans Guild 35th annual exhibit. My oil painting "Glass Works" won 2nd place in the Sixth Mazin Annual Art Exhibit in 2009. Most recently, my oil painting "His Eye in on the Sparrow" won first prize in the Louisville Artisans Guild 37th annual exhibit.
