One of my oldest paintings, a fictional view of Little Grand Traverse Bay in my home state of Michigan from the hillsides south of downtown Petoskey. The mountains in the background are a wishful representation of the local ski hills Boyne Highlands and Nub's Nob, and the tree in the forground is a reference to one of the local art galleries, The Crooked Tree. |

| | The Thicket
First in the Honokawai Series. Acrylic, duckcloth, and bamboo. I cut aged, passing bamboo from a Hawaiin forest, then gathered it in bundles and hiked it out along the river to the cliffside, single lane road below. The duckcloth was cut to size for each length of bamboo segment and sewn by an elderly Hawaiin woman.
'The Thicket' was flown to The Toy Room Gallery in Sacremento for exhibition and now resides in Anchorage, Alaska.
