About

My name is Heather and I am 24 years old. I come from a very artistic family and have been immersed in art since childhood. I studied studio art in college and have a Bachelors of Science in Fine Art at Illinois State University. I enjoy experimenting with the tactility of paint and the interplay of different mediums. My art is composed of mysterious subtleties of color and texture. I focus on the natural play of paint as a movement of rhythmic proportions and the intense use of color to provide the work with an element of illusion and to create vibrations to the eye. I generally like to work with subjects of common nature. I like to zoom into objectify the simplicity of a specific object as well as the color play. I layer color in the form of different painting techniques to the point that it makes an exaggerated pattern. My relationship to my work is to expose the raw nature of the material; to exploit its properties of whatever the medium might be. The subjects of my work ranges from my take on the culture in America to mundane objects such as light fixtures. In future work, I want to focus more on layering to create matured and detailed patterns that can create a more vivid dialogue to the viewers.
