Welcome to House of Missy Mouse

From my earliest childhood recollections, I was always fascinated and enthralled by the world of miniatures.  It was not until I began collecting dolls in earnest, that I found the accessories I so longed for for my own dolls, would have to be made by myself.  This website of galleries is a journey that began in roughly, the year 2000.  It all started with wanting a perfect little Becassine doll for my own Bleuette.

Within these galleries you will find work that incorporates the skills I've built in miniature doll dressing, wood working, and painting (my first love).  The items you see in these galleries happily belong in collectors' homes now, however from time to time I will take a commission or simply make something for myself.

My motto is “Making dreams come true!”, for where there is something you cannot find available through mass markets, I will make for you, in exacting detail and with precision.

In the fall of 201l, I began sewing for the 18" reproduction Daisy doll.  While my grandmother taught me to sew when I was a child, I never took to sewing as a lifetime's pleasure.  Through this doll, and finding the joy in replicating ensembles illustrated in paper dolls, I've begun a new journey with heirloom costuming.  Designing from the ground up and creating the accessories to go with the costumes, I can combine all the skills I've developed over time and bring these wonderful paper dolls to life.

A Testimonial or Two

"You are truly the undisputed Queen of Accessories!" - Olivia Campbell

"Oh my God...viewing your slide show I was struck by one thought:  You are the premier doll accessorist in North America, possibly the world.  Melissa, I have honestly never seen work as fine and imaginative as yours.  You have an understanding of the realm of the doll that people just haven't had since the 1880s.  Those Easter eggs!  How did you ever do the chick?  And the incredible work required to have those things open to reveal their treasures!  It's all incredible -- the sewing basket, the zither, the trunk with Murphy Bed.  One of your great talents is creating items with 'play value' for the buyer, things they can manipulate and move.  You and I know how hard it is to accomplish this on small scale...and so the outstanding quality of your work is even more amazing.  It never looks clunky (as many miniatures do) but always perfectly finished and in scale." - Diana Wieler (Canadian Doll Accessory Artist and Author)

In September of 2007, Doll Crafters and Costuming published my work in a feature article written by the talented author Susan Scribner.
