"Wreckshops" (cure-riculum)

“WreckShops” (self expression and determination)

Creative Attributes.  Are inherent qualities we all possess. Art appreciation and the application of art in its many mediums promote, instill, and awaken deeper insight into self-analysis and self-worth. Your independent will and vision can only go as far as your creative thinking and vision.  When a child appreciates and understands the artistry of themselves and others. They can persevere through adversity towards the meeting of their desired goals, confident in their own poetic license and unique potential.

Everyone is an Artist! (art mentoring)

The primary goal of the “Wreckshops” program is to get the student artist acquainted with his/her own artistry and the ability to express it.

Through out the course of the lesson the art instructor and student artist have an open forum. Each student artist is encouraged to express their individual   perspective on themselves and the real issues of their lives. The final phase of each project is centered on the student’s interest and their passions. There are several warm-up lessons designed to get the students acquainted with the expression of visual art and concept.  Once the student artist is confident in their own natural abilities the projects begin to take form around their input.

“WreckShops” provides a therapeutic formula designed to break up the negative influences that plaques our youth in this modern time. We will explore a variety of creative media such as painting, drawing, collage, illustrating, writing, and murals.

Project 1: Mood Swing

A lesson in the relationship of color and feeling, also provoking life evaluation and insight.

Student artist divide day into three parts (morning, noon, evening)

Draw a picture to define each time of day. Use one color to represent the mood of that day using light and dark to define the image.

Each student artist describes the part of day in an open forum. Explaining their likes and dislikes of that part of day. What is their best/worst part of day and why.

Project 2: Daily Transformation

After evaluating the parts of their day (lives) the student artist creates a three part day according to how they would want it to be. Going over why they would make such changes and what they would have to do to make it a reality.

Each project develops into another project as the student artist begins to delight in their own investment in themselves and the discovery of their own expression.

I bought two prints signed by artsist in The Village last week. Just love them and the prints are gorgeous. So clever and so full of feeling.

Perfect! Excellent! I loved it. Best wishes. What about teaching this in juvenile detention and other places, such as shelters, rehabs etc.?
