Born in January, in Haifa Israel, Jesse is the adopted son of prominent American economist Dr. Mitchell Kellman. During the early years of his life the family moved often and Jesse found himself absorbing aspects of all the different cities both nationally and internationally in which he lived. For the most part he grew up in the New York Metropolitan area. The suburbs of Manhattan is where his fire for life grew inside of him. He always felt on the outside of the mainstream and grew fond of being the anti- anti. A rebel at a young age he created his own world and his own ways on how to do things. Sometimes working for him and sometimes working against.
Jesse has worn many hats in life. He left home at 18 to join a foreign military, worked in the New York City Fire Departments Emergency Medical Services, captained a professional sport fishing boat and has built one of Southern Californias most prominent Faux finishing and decorative painting companies San Diego PaintWerks. His travels have taken him from the lush tropical settings of the Caribbean to "interesting" sections of the Middle East. He has a passion for life and experience that mirrors Hemingway.
After 2 years of working the professional sport fishing circuit in Southern California, Jesse returned home to New York to take part in an architectural finishing apprenticeship through Master Painter Robert Martinaeu. After completion Jesse returned to San Diego to build his own company and lead the industry in innovative finishes and techniques. His latest accomplishment was the opening of 465 GALLERY. His personal gallery highlighting his wall work as well as his canvas art. 465 GALLERY is located in the trendy East Village in Downtown San Diego.
The artists transition to canvass came naturally and was a wonderful form of therapy. Jesse brings his oddball views and bold expressions to life. His many experiences aide him in the underlining message of in his work. Opinionated, savy and rough around the edges his art very much mimics the artist himself. Influenced by the greats of New York City Jesse follows suit in keeping way outside the lines and continues to create his own style and medium for what he has to say.
His works are typically large-scale. His material usage ranges from plasters to paints to papers.
His work is hung in most major cities around the United States. He has painted for estates and the socially elite from New York to California. He has been published in magazines and has been shown in galleries. The artist’s style continues to amaze and astound. Jesse’s talent and ability to make paint speak will assure his success and continue to grow in demand and value. Professional artist, Jesse Kellman is available for private in home viewings, gallery shows and events nationally and internationally. His private gallery is by appointment only or by getting invited to one of his personal events.
