| Jae-Hong Ahn was born in South Korea in 1979. While Pusan(Busan) was his birth place his family often moved, relocating to all major cities in Korea which allowed him less than 1,2 years in each city to build sense of attachment with both individuals and environments. At age 16, he immigrated to Canada with his family. After 3years of secondary education in Edmonton AB, he alone relocated to Toronto ON where he began his figurative art studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD). In 2002 and 2003, his AOCAD thesis program took place in Florence, Italy where empty interior scenes became his new main subject matter. After Florence he travelled in and out of Canada until he settled in Toronto in 2006. Using oil as his main medium, he explores human conditions within various relations with both physical and non-physical surroundings. |
