Stone Art Pins is my new Collection of jewelry that is "Landscape inside Architecture". It is similar to my Stone Art Jewelry Necklaces in that it is created in the same manner. I start with the stone by shaping it free-form with a low-profile. Then I polish the stone enough to bring out it's natural characteristics but not so much that it looks like glass. From here I create artwork with silver around the stone, creating a unit from the two enities of stone and silver. I complete the Stone Art Pin by fabricating a sterling silver catch on the back with a pin I fabricate from stainless steel for tension.
The above Stone Art Pin is an Oregon Green Jasper. It is at the Blue Horse Gallery in Bellingham
I will also have a Stone Art Pin at the MoNA Auction on Saturday, June 19th. The stone in it is is a Fraser River Green Jade.
And many thanks to Greg Robinson, Executive Director of MoNA, for encouraging me to create this collection of Stone Art Pins that can be worn
by men and women alike.
From here, I will do a series of Smalls, just as I have done with my other Collections.
