My interest in drawing and painting started as a young girl. I was greatly influenced by my father, an engineer and artist. I was introduced to figure drawing as a teenager, where I attended art classes in Philadelphia. Since 1989, the Seattle area has been my home, where I received my degree in art from the University of Washington, Seattle. Currently, I am a retired high school art teacher and am enjoying my extra time painting. In the past my students have won both regional and national awards. Three of my students have been presented with the Congressional Art Award.
My artwork has always remained my passion in life. It has been a reflection of my life, temperament, and worldview. My personal style has emerged as a result of my determination to remain true to myself and paint what is inspirational and important to me. This is reflected in the diversity and versatility of my artwork. I am especially fascinated with the way in which light interacts with forms. My paintings also reflect my spirituality and interest in symbolism. Although my personal taste in art is very eclectic, the artists I tend to admire and aspire to the most, are the classical and contemporary realists. My most recent paintings reflect my love for realism.
