Joyous women and inquisitive animals have been the focus of
my creative work.
I am interested in the form and strength of a gesture along
with the effects of wind and the resultant movement on figure or feather.
With this in mind I most often work in wax that that will be
directly transformed onto bronze utilizing the lost wax process. The result is a one of a kind, a
unique, bronze.
At times I decide that some of these wax sculptures that I
have created will be molded and cast as a limited edition at foundries in Santa
Fe, New Mexico.
I live in Corrales, New Mexico and at times seem surrounded
by ravens swooping and cawing.
After years of observation, I started on a work in clay that became my
“Cantankerous Raven”. She definitely was female demanding the center of attention
while I continued to work with my joyous women.
I so very much strive to portray and active, vital woman in
the spotlight, at the peak of her performance, in life or on an actual
stage…quite often-taking a “curtain call”.
I do not hesitate to create some of my women with a most
“Rubenesque” figure just as history has portrayed and loved that classical
form. It too offers much to be
loved.
Whatever depiction of the final form, thin, Rubenesque, or
possibly showing the bloom of new life, she is a woman of confidence enjoying
all that life has to offer.
