Inspired by the actions of age and wear on what was once sturdy lumber, this painting is just a touch more about surreality and beauty than it is an attempt to be realistic. The way that the view of the surface is cropped is intended to bring a sense of abstraction to what is essentially realistic. Ditto the division into three panels.
