When I was in college going crazy trying to balance work and school, in order to stay motivated I hung a picture of Aimee Mullins on my bathroom mirror for the days when I was not feeling so positive or inspired to keep going to class. Aimee is an athlete; a double amputee, that set the world Paralympic record for the 100, 200 meter dash and long jump. Seeing her picture every morning was a constant reminder of how truly blessed I was and that I could stick to my goals regardless of how I was 'feeling' or whatever obstacles I encountered along the way. Her image, the one where she is darting across the beach in her prosthetic, carbon fiber blades.... even to this day, is permanently etched into my mind. Along with the thought, that if ONE person can have the courage and drive to live her life powefully and achieve her goals...so can I...and so can anyone else with a dream.
