I'm an American artist trying to capture on canvas the various overseas locations where I live. I am currently residing in Yerevan, Armenia, and am working on a Caucasas painting series (see the first one, Window to a ...?, on the website under the Mexico/Cacausas section). I've recently moved from Budapest, where I finished a series entitled "Fragments of Budapest," paintings that attempt to capture the sometimes gritty, decaying grandeur of this Eastern European city.
I've also started a new company, Art Tours Armenia, offering off-the-beaten track art studio tours and art-buying trips in Armenia, www.arttoursarmenia.blogspot.com. We offer monthly first Saturday art studio visits to the country's premiere and cutting edge contemporary artists in Yerevan every month, and customize studio and art education tours to Gyumri and other locations in Armenia upon request (learn to draw, paint or sculpt with experienced Armenian artists!). I've studied painting and drawing techniques at the Seattle Fine Art Academy (now called the Gage Academy), and have studied the art of the old European masters with Georgian artist Lado Pochkhua (see Artists I like section of this website, and www.ladopochkhua.com), and now with Armenian artist Hakob Hovanissyan. I helped found, and have taught art at Szív Studios in Budapest, a collective studio, gallery and teaching space, with two other American artists.
