Sound is something that touches everyone in it's own... very intimate way. My voice was a gift... A very important woman in my life taught me that I had a gift and that it could reach even the most unreachable.... bring light to dark moments and make soft the coldest of hearts... when used wisely. I cherish everything that Marilyn June Wise imprinted upon my soul and shaped within my voice. With the gift of training at a young age... the shape and depth of my growth vocally was boundless.
A. Charles Wise, my grandfather and my parents joined forces and made it possible for me to have the training that I was going to need in years to come. I was classically trained for three years by a talented woman. My grandfather has been a constant source of guidance and support. His advice and guidance have paved my way into adulthood like no other could. I have always known that he would always be my rock. My constant. Never moving or changing and always steady. He is my guardian angel.
If ever I needed enthusiasm or motivation my mother is always in my cheering section. Whenever I have a day that I might question my path.. she is sure to redirect me. I can count on her to believe in me no matter what I do. That is something I can't ever live without.
Quiet converstions at night on the phone or in the living room, my father contemplates with me.. He shows me wisdom through years and love of music. He started my love of music. I will always remember years and years of my childhood filled with the guitar, my dad and me sitting on the floor... listening to him sing and play.. John Lennon, Steely Dan, Dan Fogelberg, The Beatles, Supertramp, E.L.O and a bunch more that take me back. I know all the greats and more that all make an enormous difference in what and how I sing. He is the music in the back of my mind whenever I sing..
My sister and brother have musical gifts that will only grow with time. My grandfather taught them both piano at young ages, a skill I envy.. My sister has a voice that blends with mine perfectly in skill and quality. She and I will do GREAT things together someday. My brother can play bass guitar/guitar and piano.. He inspires me to learn as much as I can and get good at all of them.. just like him...
You can hear all of my family when I sing. Each has their influence on my soul and my voice. I love everything they bring out in me and I sing with them always...
