When you think of an Artist you may think of quaint coffee
shops with beret wearing artists huddled together pondering the questions of
life over a good brew. If only this was
true!
It seems to me that a lot of being an Artist is made up of
administration. I have been known to say
that when I am a wealth artist (contradiction- wealthy – artist) then I’d have
a nice admin assistant do all the organising.
Truth is an admin assistant probably could not because a lot has to come
straight from the artist. Although a
human spell checker would be handy. J
Yet in a way its good for me because it still makes me
excited to finally finish off the emails, accounts, couriers, promotional materials,
upcoming entry’s, assorted Art file requirements, exhibit invitations, and of
course Artist Statements.
Then when I do some art I know why I do everything
else. I love to create I also love
people telling me what they think. Opinions
no matter how good/bad/funny or just a tad silly I listen to with interest. I truly do because everyone interprets art
differently and helps me to see my art in new ways. It can be hard to know what art to put
forward for competitions and certain shows.
Most of the time it’s hard to tell what the judges will truly like and I
do have rather a broad range to choose from.
Often the best people I can ask are my non art friends maybe
because they see the art in a totally fresh way?
Anyways I’d best go I have art to pick up and send off to a
new and exciting location……this is BIG….
