Mary Lonergan, a self-taught artist, creates work that stimulates strong emotional, intellectual and physical response using vibrant color and movement.
“A certain piece can reach in and grab you, demanding your presence. I like that. It lets you know you’re alive, no matter how deeply you’ve tried to bury yourself. It’s an immediate, uncontained force”.
Mary believes strongly in the curative properties of art and is grateful to those who unveil themselves through that process. Her influences include Peter Max, Wolf Kahn and Julian Schnabel.
She participated in her first public showing at the International Florence Biennale Art Show in December 2007.
Mary currently resides in Northern California and is a member of Pro Arts Gallery in Oakland.
