Michael has a passion for both color and black and white
photography. He prefers color when the warmth, richness and intensity of the
colors bring the viewer into the life of the subject. Given the subject’s
composition, lighting, contrast, the tonal range of the picture, at times a
black and white image may best reach out and translate to the viewer what the
true meaning of the subject from his perspective. The selection of color or
B&W will be determined on how the subject may best be communicated to the
viewer.
“The
rendering of the subject itself determines the size and shape of the paper that
it will be presented on”.
“I
never force an image into a standard size print, mat or frame as all my works
are custom to the image”.
Michael has been taking pictures for over forty years. Extensive
world travels focuses his photography on historical architecture as well as
culture. In his visits to China,
Michael has photographed the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square
and Xian’s terracotta army. In the streets of Hong Kong,
the daily life of the fish mongers in Mongkok to ferry commuters to and from Hong
Kong Island. From Tokyo
to Seoul, Bangkok
to Puckett Island
his photographic travels captures the sprit of creative imagery.
Throughout literally all of Western Europe,
Michael has photographed images of life in other cultures. Twirling Dermas in Istanbul,
The Blue Mosque, the streets of Paris,
London, East Berlin,
Scandinavia, Tuscany,
Provence, down to the Greek
Islands, the antiquities of ancient
Greece’s Olympia,
Delphi, and the Acropolis’s Parthenon.
Revisiting these countries time and time again, in many
seasons, enables him to better understand the people and places in daily life
and render this artistically through his photographs.
The
artist presents all his works in limited editions, processed to museum grade
