Bio

 

Mo Jamal is a multi-faceted artist who has devoted his professional life to the pursuit of excellence and high achievement in a variety media, including the visual arts and music.

A native of Tehran, Iran, Mo has been active for more than 40 years on the cultural scene in Iran, France, Germany, the U.S and Toronto, Canada. He is graduated of Tehran University and holds a Master’s of Fine Arts degree, pursuing his doctoral studies in Art at the University of Sorbonne, France. Mo has been deeply involved in art, music. He works in variety of media such as oil, acrylic, water color, and pastel, from traditional to contemporary styles.

 

 In 1991, Mo founded Art Direct Gallery in Cologne GERMANY which displayed works by a variety of artists. Mo Jamal was member of BBK (artist association of Cologne).

In 1991, Mo received the Kunstpreis International and Annual juried Art Exhibit Award in Wesseling, Germany. He has collaborated with several newspapers, magazines, and book companies AS CARTOONIST AND ILLUSTRATOR. During his sojourn in Paris, his cartoons were published in such newspapers as Le Monde and L’ Humanite. Also, gave several radio and television interviews in Iran; a 1990 television interview in Dortmund, Germany; and 1980, 1990, and 1992 interviews at the Deustche Welle radio Station.

 

After residing in Germany for nine years and the United States for nine years, Mo moved to Toronto, Canada in February 2003 with her wife Shahla and their four sons.

Mo Jamal is member of AVAA (Austin Visual Artist Association)

Mo received several grants during 1998-2002 from the City Cultural Contracts in Austin, Texas.

Mo Jamal has over 40 group and solo shows around the world.
