Marissa (Sheaman) Voytenko (b. 1978) grew up in Woodland, California, "The City of Trees". As a child her favorite activities were drawing and climbing the mulberry tree in her backyard. Her many teachers, including her Aunt Karen, recognized her giftings and encouraged her to continue drawing and experimenting. Marissa's formal training is in art and art education. She has earned both a Bachelor's degree in Art from Westmont College and a Master's in Fine Art from Boston University. Much of Marissa's work reflects her enjoyment of nature. She also finds inspiration through journeys abroad as well as her everyday spiritual journey. In her art, she seeks to capture the fragility of life and the beauty found in it.
