Liminal States
 Liminal States
Recent work exploring how individuals navigate public spaces. How do the public and private overlap? What are the formal constructs that describe these overlays? 2008

"Growth Series"
 "Growth Series"
The depth and breath of personal histories is fascinating to me. Each life exists as a small chunk in the communal makeup of our journey.

These images of growing things are metaphors for this process. Grasses bloom for a time and quickly die, tall oaks withstand seasons and gales, but they too will eventually fail. Colored blocks describe the passage of time through glimpses of individual moments, days, and seasons.

I am finding beauty in the bonds within community, in the roots that have stretched deep through families, and the hopeful influence of the generations to come.

Encaustic

These mixed media pieces are from "The Journey Series" I created them alongside of "the Growth Series." I am intrigued by the choices that we make in our daily lives. I find the cultivation of some elements of ourselves as a fascinating glimpse into what is important to us. What we choose to 'water' slowly develops while ignoring others equally slowly strangles them. Nude figures exist in a surreal landscape, each deciding what to cultivate. What is most important to you?

Caution: Many of these works include depictions of the nude figure. If you may find this offensive, please visit the other galleries.
