I live in beautiful
Fort Collins, Colorado. Aside from painting, I love to run and enjoy the Colorado outdoors.
While I have enjoyed drawing and painting for most of my life, I am relatively new to the world of professional art. I have commissioned a few portraits and have had nothing but positive feedback... but I have mostly chosen to keep my artwork in my personal collection. I have also donated several pieces to charity auctions, to such organizations as the
Colorado State University Wildlife Society, the
Humane Society of Boulder Valley and the
Boulder-Jalapa Friendship City Project.
I am inspired by the human face and the challenge of capturing a true likeness of my subject. I strive for a contemporary, realistic style that plays up color, light and contrast. I enjoy painting portraits that place the subject in an interesting, more candid and less traditional pose.
I have a Bachelor's of Science in Natural Resource Management/Conservation Biology from Colorado State University and currently work in my field, but am now very interested in turning my art into a more professional endeavor.
***As an avid runner and (beginner) cyclist, I'm very interested in starting to do some "athletic" portraits, showing the athlete in action, and trying to capture their motion and intensity. I'm welcome to any ideas or commissions in this particular area. Please just keep in mind that I can't work from a professional race-day photographer's portraits without their permission.
