In retrospect, the earliest indication and appreciation I can recall for color,
pattern and texture derived from my mother’s custom designs as a seamstress. As
a child, I witnessed my mother visit multiple fabric stores in search for the
unflawed. Her keenness and conveyance to contrive impressed me. Not to contend
with her modest, yet highly attractive creations, my father unknowingly was and
is affiliated with my affair to color. As a General Contractor he was expected
to craft great work (and he did). I bear in mind, how he’d conjoin customary
designs with unassuming influences. Consequently, my surroundings suggested, if
not assured a need to create…but, I didn’t. Years passed, I’m an adult -
living a productive life, with a good 9 to 5. Conversely, and for my own
pleasure, I paint bold and unanticipated colors unto walls. I marry a
thought-provoking, irreplaceable exclusive sole in 2001…Keisha. She’s as
unrivaled as they come. Her energy and gnawing... |
