| Nature has always been a source of inspiration for Amity Skelton. She is drawn to the colors, textures and shapes seen in the Pacific Northwest landscape and often uses them as compositional elements in her artwork. Skelton earned a degree in painting from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2006 and has been showing at various venues around Portland post graduation.
For Skelton painting is not simply a hobby, it is a passion. She challenges herself to create work that reflects the dichotomy between reality and abstraction, attempting to find a balance between observation and invention. Amity views her body of work as a visual journal. It is her hope that each painting conveys not just talent or subject, but growth; both the growth of an individual and the growth of an artist.
Although she views each piece as a personal experience, Amity invites you to view her art and to take a peek at her diary of pursuit.
