About
Joel Kaylor
Formal Education: University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC; University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington: Masters Degree, Ceramic Art. I apprenticed with Betty Feves, an artist who lived in Pendelton Oregon. There I learned many different ceramic techniques and firing methods. We dug our own clay and made our own kilns. We once worked on an Indian Reservation using dung to fire a "pit kiln." When I came to Philladelphia I taught at The Community College of Philadelphia for 5 years before heading out on...

Primitive Firing
Handbuilt from clay of the Pacific NorthWest, fired in pits using cow dung as fuel.

Galleries
Artwork
Earthenware, handbuilt, Cone 06 glazes. Wall pieces: hang on the wall.

Protest Art
The pieces in this gallery reflect political or social commentary. In "Irag Invaded", I have portrayed the beginning of a long and bitter conflict...hence the black and white which reflects a "which side are you on" mentality at the time.

In Memorian
This gallery contains work made to commemorate a person, place or event.
