| Beáta Ondikova Metzelaar was born in the former Czechoslovakia. Her artistic talent was discovered at a very young age, and she began her many years of study under Eastern Europe’s finest instructors. She ultimately graduated from art school, specializing in fine art and art restoration. Having studied restoration, Beáta has developed a truly unique ability to understand how the masters created their works, and she applies similar techniques to her own. Heavily influenced by her native Eastern Europe, the use of color and texture are woven into her versatile style.
Beáta came to the United States in 1990, and worked for many years as a textile designer and artist in Los Angeles before coming to Seattle. She continued her work as a textile designer for Eddie Bauer-Home, which included several popular bedding designs. She has also developed designs for REI and Land’s End.
