Four different kinds of luxurious silk will surround the beautiful bride-to-be and make your *own* darling Bleuette feel like a princess! The LSDS pattern, Robe de Mariée of 1923 exemplifies the simple yet elegant silhouettes that became so popular in the twenties. My version used silk jacquard for the basic dress, with silk chiffon panels at the front and back . A graceful "watteau" style train is attaches with tiny hooks and thread eyes at the back shoulders. The over-blouse is embroidered silk chiffon, embellished with pearls at the center-front pleat. Surrounding the entire dress is her ethereal veil; crinkle silk chiffon with a wreath of mulberry paper rosebuds in white and apricot, along with pearl stamens. | | Working with fabric and thread by quilting, sewing, weaving, and dyeing I find myself connected to a history of “women's work” with a needle and thread. Traditionally we made functional items for our family for survival of the elements. Yet by making them objects of beauty, they are handed down from generation to generation providing the survival of a family's history; one of love and labour, sacrifice and celebration. My skills at dressing Bleuette are a culmination of over forty years of textile endeavors....
