| I have always appreciated and enjoyed the arts and came to painting later in life. For as long as I can remember I have dabbled in various arts related projects, which encouraged me to find my way to painting. My professional life includes working at the Getty Museum in Malibu, California with the Associate Director in charge of public programs. In 1998 I began taking a variety of art classes at College of Marin, Kentfield, California, then various print workshops here in New Mexico to expand my interest in different forms and media. After some years of painting representational still lifes, landscapes and portraits I found myself drawn to the abstract. I employ various tools and applications to explore texture, color and light, using different kinds of paper and materials to add dimension to the work. The randomness and freedom of this layering of materials continues to challenge me as much as it gives great pleasure. But it is color that drives me, inspires me, leading me along to create, always surprising... |
