| After a lot of soul-searching regarding my chosen field of study, I attended the school of art at Ohio University for 3 years, then moved to Missouri and received a BA degree in studio art from UMKC. Since then my life took a couple different paths and I raised 2 children and had several jobs unrelated to art. I returned to school and received an AA in veterinary technology, another field that had interested me for most of my life. After working as a Veterinary Technician for several years, I returned to doing artwork, mostly drawing. I enjoy doing portraits and watching the drawing “come to life” as the personality of my subjects begins to emerge as I draw. Usually this happens first in the eye, then in the exacting details of the rest of the face.
I have more recently returned to painting, using either acrylic or oil paints. My approach to my paintings varies from my approach to drawing. My drawings tend to be very representative, but my paintings tend more toward “imaginary” or “invented” subject... |
