| I have been a commissioned artist all my adult life with an emphasis in portraits. I had the privilege of inspiration &instruction from my grandfather Johannes Christoffel de Does who supported his family in the Netherlands during World War II with his paintings. I had the honor of studying with Gene V. Dougherty when I attended Northern Oklahoma College and I paid for my bachelor of fine arts degree at Central State University in Oklahoma working part time and doing childrens' portrait sketches.
I moved to Tulsa when I married Keith E. Wallace in 1976. For four years I did fashion illustrations at Renberg's clothing store in their advertising department back in the day when such retailers had their own staff of artists. I never got over the thrill of seeing my work published in the newspaper &in Renberg's yearly Christmas catalog which we did in color. I was assigned the cover every year. After we started our family in 1981, I continued to do commissioned work as our growing family would allow.... |
