After receiving her degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, she created works of art for her friends and family. It became more and more apparent to her that painting was yet another form of communicating ideas and expressing emotions through color and form. Dawn recently moved from Austin to her hometown of New Braunfels, Texas. She is now working entirely in abstract and primarily in encaustics. Statement My love for rich, tantalizing colors, and swirling daydreams are evident throughout my work. As a child, my best friend and I spent long summer days staring at the clouds and sharing what we saw in them. Working in encaustic is the perfect medium with which to express my emotions. I am fascinated with the translucent colors and the reflectiveness of the wax. I hope others will share in the joy of my work.
