| I am in love with color and light. I seek to explore and document the relationship they have with form and space. My vision as a painter is complex; yet simple and comprehensive all at once. Having been trained as a commercial illustrator for the majority of my college career, my insticts are to paint in such a way to prompt a dialogue; to convey a narrative of sorts. I am equally inspired by both Realism and Abstraction; therefore I do not swear allegiance to either camp; I feel both disciplines have an interdependant relationship and can play upon each other within a single two- dimensional environment. Amidst this flirtatious context I test the boundaries of both; and even touch upon and draw inspiration from the Surrealist movement. |
